American/Canadian Jewish artist Maya Ciarrocchi, Andrew Conklin and a team of international collaborators present an transcendent site-specific performance of Site: Yizkor at the Roza Centre for International and Interdisciplinary Art and Cooperation in strong partnership with FestivALT.
Site: Yizkor is an interdisciplinary project that honors and commemorates vanished places through music, video, and movement. This performance of Site: Yizkor will be site-specific, with musicians and dancers performing inside the remarkable historic “Dwór Popielów” surrounded by video projected onto its architectural surfaces.
IMPORTANT: Audiences will be provided transportation to and from the location organized by FestivALT. The pick up will be at 19.30 from the river’s edge in front of the Sheraton Hotel.
FestivALT is honored to present a unique one of a kind Polish-Jewish Shabbat experience. FestivALT believes that holding Shabbats in places of difficult heritage represents a clarion call for Polish-Jews, Poles and Poland as a Nation to engage in essential conversations regarding shared histories and the traumas that continue to shape our lives. We conduct Shabbats monthly at our CentrALT Gallery in the heart of the former Krakow Ghetto; we welcome this important invitation and partnership with the Roza Center to continue the dialogue.
Before the performance, FestivALT attendees will share a communal outdoor Shabbat meal on site before the performance. There will also be a post-performance discussion. The vegetarian Shabbat meal will start at 20:00 with the performance starting at 21:30.
Viewers who are not affiliated with FestivALT, are invited to the performance at 21:30.
Site: Yizkor is made possible with support from the Mid-Atlantic Foundation, the Trust for Mutual Understanding, the Roza Centre for International and Interdisciplinary Art and Cooperation, and FestivALT Association of Kraków.
