Edyta Gawron
Short bio
Edyta Gawron (PhD) is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Jewish Studies, Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She served as the director of the Centre for the Study of the History and Culture of Krakow Jews (2009-2017). Dr Gawron is the author of several publications on the wartime and post-war history of Jews in Poland, in particular Krakow. As a specialist in the 20th century history of Polish Jews and Holocaust studies, she cooperates with various academic institutions and museums in Poland and abroad. She serves as the president of the Management Board of Galicia Jewish Heritage Institute Foundation (Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow) and has been on the team that designed the historical museum in Oskar Schindler’s Factory in Krakow. Dr Gawron has been lecturing internationally (e.g. Israel, US, Australia, Germany, Czech Republic, Russia, South Africa) and has served as the consultant and advisor for academic projects worldwide (e.g. EHRI, EACEA, Erasmus+, JCC Global Amitim, Taube Jewish Heritage Tours). She is a Chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure project.
