8th FestivALT | 21.06–2.07/2024

FestivALT is a Jewish, multidisciplinary cultural organization that annually hosts a festival of critically engaged contemporary art, performance, and activism exploring the complexities of Jewish life in today’s Poland.

We have themed this year Gilgul, which in Hebrew means “circle”. It is also the Jewish notion of reincarnation. The idea is that the imperfect human soul continues forward in the pursuit of bettering itself; of continuing on in its cycle until it fixes its past mistakes. Our program this year is in the spirit of making things better. Or at least attempting to. We don’t have the answers, but we believe in the importance of art in being able to ask questions that provide fuel for empathy, humanity and the peace that we all deserve. These are not questions, however, that we can ask in isolation, and thus we hope you, our audience, will join us on this path.
