MUSEUM OF LOST THINGS is an ephemeral and performative museum devoted to Pola Nireńska (1910-1992), a Polish dancer and choreographer of Jewish origin. Nireńska was a remarkable artist who, despite conservative parents and tremendous oppressions against women and Jews, spent her life fighting for artistic and moral liberties.
Miętus, known for his dramaturgical work in Poland’s dance community, presents Pola and her perspectives through a gallery of objects that relate to her personal life. Inconspicuous artifacts become a map demystifying Pola’s story in an attempt to bring us closer to it. And by looking at Pola’s historical struggles as a female artist, Miętus also asks how much has actually changed for women in contemporary Poland.
The exhibition will be presented throughout CentrALT at Jozefińska 9, June 26th–July 17th (9 AM–6 PM, except weekends).
Miętus will be offering performance tours of the exhibition at 2 PM on Sunday, June 26th.
