
Ahmed Amine Ben Feguira
Short bio
Ahmed Amine Ben Feguira – born in Djerba, Tunisia, he began playing music and learning the oud at the age of 13, then went on to study music in Tunis.
Trained in oriental classical music, he then moved on to jazz, experimenting with the oud’s infinite techniques and sonorities, and highlighting the importance of improvisation through the different timbres of this emblematic instrument. After a master’s degree in music and musicology, he devoted himself to artistic projects and the stage as an oud player and composer (traditional music, contemporaryjazz, and contemporary music).
A member of the jazz groups Belugas 5tet, American saxophonist Robby Marshalle’s Yellow Leaf Moon, and the Naghib Shanbehzadeh project, he has taken part in the Reims Jazz Festival, Nancy Jazz Pulsations, and the Avignon Jazz Festival, among others.
A composer of contemporary music for Marie Simon’s choreographic project “Soie”, as well as collaborating on the composition and interpretation of the play “Je ne suis pas arabe” by Ben Popincourt and Elie Boissière, he is currently collaborating on the musical creation of the Safra company’s choreographic project “Ta’am”.
