The Longlasting Project | sound installation & performance

This encapsulating performance and sound installation draws inspiration from composer Morton Feldman’s exploration of time, temporality, and the profound impact of his Ashkenazi Jewish heritage.

Through sound manipulation techniques like time stretching, Melmann’s installation creates a space of active stillness—inviting listeners to immerse themselves in an experience that evokes Jewish mysticism and spirituality. The environment encourages deep contemplation, offering a momentary escape from the fast pace of modern life.

Conceived as a space of resistance against the relentless speed of contemporary society, this project challenges the way we perceive time in today’s capitalist world, urging reflection on the rhythms that govern our lives.
