Explore a series of compelling collages by Jakub Skrzypczak, illustrating and commenting on ancient and medieval Aramaic poetic texts. Selected and translated by Skrzypczak into Polish, these works offer a unique perspective on sacred literature.
The collages blend graphic elements—featuring Aramaic lettering and text—with a subjective anthology of Jewish, Christian, and Mandaean sacred writings. This fusion takes viewers on a journey through diverse cultural landscapes and various expressions of the Aramaic language.
At the core of the project lies the transgressive nature of the texts. Although all come from canonical books and are not considered heretical, their transgender and feminist undertones have kept them largely unexplored.
