Short bio
Jacqueline Nicholls is a London based fine artist and visual poet. Her art practice explores handwriting as a form of drawing, taking inspiration from Jewish text study as a sacred act. Jacqueline explores Jewish tradition using a variety of media – textiles, embroidery, drawing, animation, paper-cuts, printmaking, bookmaking. She has a BA in Architecture (Leeds Metropolitan University), and an MA in Fine Art (Central Saint Martins). Jacqueline has won awards for her visual poetry, and has exhibited internationally. Recent residencies include Beit Veniza, the Centre for Jewish Studies at Manchester University, and The London Library. Jacqueline’s art is held in public (ANU Museum Tel Aviv, Israel, Ben Uri Gallery London, UK, John Rylands Library Manchester, UK) and private collections.
