Join us for an opening evening of the 7th edition of FestivALT. The program includes Shabbat dinner, the exhibition opening and an improvised music concert.
This year’s FestivALT opens with an extra special Shabbat experience with a communal meal in the area of the former ghetto, the opening of one of our feature exhibitions and a remarkable after-meal concert with three brilliant artists. This will all happen at Targowa2 by the Ghetto Heroes Square; a wonderful new space and one our partners for this year’s FestivALT.
Our Shabbat is open to all who want to join, whether you are Jewish or not. There will be a bit of prayer, though the evening mostly revolves around meeting together to mark the importance of community, eating good food and celebrating life. The meal is vegetarian and will include one glass of wine.
The evening will involve:
Exhibition Opening: Lady Loda (Pani Loda) by Jakub Skrzypczak
“Lady Loda” is the invention of Gdansk-based artist, Jakub Skrzypczak. She is an unearthly, transtemporal semi-deity, semi-grumpy old Jewish aunt who may be perceived as Skrypczak’s alter-ego. She is usually found bringing her radical Jewish perspective into a commentary on the Polish contemporary.
