Short bio
Dr. Sarah G. Stanley (SGS) is the VP of programming at Arts Commons in Calgary, Alberta. As a theatre director and dramaturg with a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies, she co-stewards Birchdale in Southwest Nova Scotia. Formerly, SGS served as Artistic Producer for the National Creation Fund and Associate Artistic Director at Canada’s National Arts Centre. Notably, she co-founded SpiderWebShow and FOLDA, an acclaimed festival for live digital art. Recognized with numerous theatre awards, SGS explores the genealogical structures of Canadian theatre in her current research project, Massey & Me. Co-authoring Manifesto for Now, she is a 2022 and 2023 Arne Bengt Johansson Fellow at The Banff Forum in PEI.
