KulturDocs is the first project of its kind dedicated to Jewish artists living and creating in Poland—specifically in Gdańsk, Warsaw, and Szczecin. The featured artists span generations, disciplines, and life experiences, offering a compelling glimpse into the evolving landscape of Jewishness in Poland.
The series comprises three short documentary episodes, each focusing on a different artist: jazz musician Mikołaj Trzaska, burlesque performer Betty Q, and emerging queer visual artists Marcella Poroszanka and Ezra Wojakowski. In each episode, the artists engage in conversation with director Michael Rubenfeld, exploring their artistic practices and Jewish identities through the lens of their creative journeys and personal histories.
Shedding light on the vibrant and multifaceted world of Jewish art in contemporary Poland, KulturDocs challenges stereotypes and provides a powerful entry point into conversations about the present-day Polish Jewish experience, told through the uniquely reflective voices of some of the country’s most captivating Jewish artists.
