Natalia Drozd

Short bio

Natalia Drozd is a dancer, dance artist, choreographer, and Wroclaw resident.

Natalia is a graduate of the prestigious DOCH/SKH Stockholm University of the Arts, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance in 2021 — becoming the first Polish student ever admitted to the program. Since then, she has been working as a freelance dancer, primarily in Sweden and Poland.

She is a recipient of the Culture Moves Europe grant, through which she collaborated with choreographer Liza Penkova on Liza’s original project “My body is a room filled with…”, a solo performed by Natalia and choreographed by Penkova, which premiered on February 28, 2025, at Atalante in Gothenburg, Sweden.

In 2025, she was also awarded the “Supporting International Activity” grant by the National Institute of Music and Dance (Poland), as well as the “Kultura Mobilna” scholarship from the Wrocław Institute of Culture.

Natalia is a finalist of the Polish selection for the International Solo Dance Contest 2025, with her solo “Body’s archive”, which she both choreographed and performed. For this same work, she was awarded at SoloDuo 2024, and subsequently invited to present it as part of the Young Generation of Polish Choreographers and Dance Artists program during the International Dance Theatre Meetings 2024 in Lublin.

She is the only dancer of her generation worldwide to have been entrusted with performing the legendary choreography TRIO A by Yvonne Rainer, passed on to her by Sara Wookey during the New Horizons Festival 2024 in Wrocław. Natalia received formal permission from Yvonne Rainer to learn and perform the piece.

Natalia is also the founder and coordinator of WITa – Wrocław Dance Initiative, a grassroots group committed to strengthening the presence and visibility of dance and choreography within the cultural landscape of Wrocław.
