Grafika z Lomir redn jidysz - kurs nauki języka jidysz
16.10.2026

Yiddish is much more than a language of a lost past. It is a language that is still alive, relevant, and inclusive. We invite everyone who would like to learn more about Yiddish, explore its alphabet, vocabulary, and grammar to join a course organized jointly by FestivALT and Cafe Bund.

The course will be taught by Zach Mojsze, and participants can sign up for one of two groups:

  • Beginner (Mondays, 5:00–6:00 PM) – for those with no prior knowledge of Yiddish or its alphabet. After learning the letters, we will focus on correct pronunciation, spelling, and basic vocabulary.
  • Intermediate (Mondays, 6:00–7:00 PM) – for those already familiar with the Alef-Beys (Yiddish alphabet). We will work on more advanced grammar and vocabulary, using a primer and textbook published by the Arbeter Ring (Workmen’s Circle), a left-wing cultural and educational organization founded in the United States in 1900, which published Yiddish language learning materials for decades.

Those who are unsure which group to choose will have the opportunity to attend classes at both levels or switch between groups.

We are also open to adjusting the class times depending on the preferences of participants in each group.

Classes will take place online over a period of ten weeks. Depending on participants’ needs and availability, we may also offer a hybrid format.

Participation in the course is free of charge, although voluntary donations are welcome.

If you are interested in joining, please register.
