Louise Steinman
Short bio
Louise Steinman is a writer, artist, and curator. She is the author of three books: The Crooked Mirror: A Memoir of Polish-Jewish Reconciliation [available in Polish from Ośrodek Karta]; The Souvenir: A Daughter Discovers Her Father’s War, and The Knowing Body: The Artist as Storyteller in Contemporary Performance. Her collaborative installation (with Dorit Cypis), “Welcome the Stranger” was featured in the Open City Festival, Lublin, 2019. She is the recipient of numerous fellowships (Chora Prize; NEA Artist Fellowship) and has been a resident artist at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Warsaw Bauhaus, Blue Mountain, Ucross. She co-directs the Los Angeles Institute for Humanities at the University of Southern California.
