“If I Had a Gun, I’d Take Them All Down” is a one-man show by Ukrainian artist Piotr Armianovski, reflecting on Ukraine’s struggle against recurring violence and Russian aggression.
The performance is inspired by the true story of Dmitry Bogrov (1887–1911), a Ukrainian-Jewish lawyer, double agent, and revolutionary who assassinated Russian Prime Minister Pyotr Stolypin (1862–1911) at the Kyiv Opera House in 1911. Bogrov was arrested, tried, and executed shortly afterward.
Through innovative use of video and sound design, the performance invites audiences to follow Bogrov’s journey, explore the topography of historical and contemporary Kyiv, and gain insight into Armianovski’s personal experiences of the ongoing armed conflict.
