We invite you to another event in the Are We Going Alone? series.
This time, we will focus on the Roma community and one of its remarkable local representatives: Krystyna Gil (1938–2021) – a survivor of the Szczurowa massacre, a long-time resident of Nowa Huta, founder and president of the Association of Roma Women in Poland, and the first Roma woman to work as a tram driver in Kraków.
We will begin with a screening of the last interview with Krystyna Gil, conducted in 2020 by researchers Dr Elżbieta Mirga-Wójtowicz and Dr Monika Szewczyk. Afterwards, we will talk with them about the Roma experience of the Holocaust, past and present forms of hate and discrimination, and, above all, the agency and emancipation of Roma women.
The event will be held in Polish.
Admission is free. Registration is required.
