Maciej Zdanowicz’s project Archaeologies of Podgórze explores memory as a phenomenon subject to layering, erosion, shifts, and reinterpretation. It also invites us to reflect on what remains: fragments, sediments, afterimages, and traces.
Together with the residents of Podgórze and participants of the walk and workshops held on 24 October 2026, the artist created a salt installation that tells the forgotten, silenced, minority, and personal histories and herstories of the district and the people connected to it.
The salt used in the project takes three weeks to crystallise. During this time, visitors can observe the installation gradually taking shape at Podgórze HOIZ – both through the window and during the venue’s public opening hours (details coming soon).
The final result will be unveiled at Podgórze HOIZ during the closing event on Saturday, 14 November.
Everyone who took part in the walk and workshops is a co-creator of the artwork.
The event is free, but registration is required.
We look forward to seeing you!
