Between Preservation and Commercialization: Jewish Heritage in Kazimierz • Conference • Partner Event • HOIZ 2026

As part of the accompanying events for the inauguration of the HOIZ programme, organised on the occasion of FestivALT’s 10th anniversary, we recommend the conference “Between Protection and Commercialisation: Jewish Heritage in Kazimierz”, which we have taken under our patronage.

The meeting will take place on 29 June 2026 at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków. It is organised by the Taube Center Foundation, the Galicia Jewish Museum, and the Institute of Jewish Studies at the Jagiellonian University.

The conference focuses on the question of how Jewish heritage in Kraków can be responsibly protected, interpreted, and presented today — especially in the space of Kazimierz, where history, the everyday life of the city, tourism, and commercial activity constantly intersect.

During the event, topics related to heritage protection, memory of place, education, institutional cooperation, and the role of local communities in telling the story of Kazimierz’s past and present will be discussed.

Due to the specialised nature of the meeting and the limited number of places, participation requires prior registration.
