Between Preservation and Commercialization: Jewish Heritage in Kazimierz • Conference • Partner Event • HOIZ 2026

As part of the accompanying events of the 10th edition of FestivALT, we are pleased to recommend the conference “Between Preservation and Commercialization: Jewish Heritage in Kazimierz”, which we have taken under our patronage.

The meeting will take place on 29 June 2026 at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków. It is organized by the Taube Center Foundation, the Galicia Jewish Museum, and the Institute of Jewish Studies at the Jagiellonian University.

The conference focuses on the question of how Jewish heritage in Kraków can be responsibly protected, interpreted, and presented today — particularly in the space of Kazimierz, where history, everyday urban life, tourism, and commercial activity constantly intersect.

During the event, topics related to the protection of historic sites, the memory of place, education, institutional cooperation, and the role of local communities in telling the story of Kazimierz’s past and present will be discussed.

Due to the specialist nature of the meeting and the limited number of places, prior registration is required.
