The Tadeusz Reichstein Festival is the first event in Włocławek dedicated to the eminent chemist, Nobel Prize laureate and scientist whose discoveries contributed to the advancement of medicine worldwide.
This one-day event brings together science, history, art, botany, cuisine and Jewish culture, presenting Reichstein’s life and legacy from a variety of perspectives. The festival programme takes participants from a discussion of his scientific achievements and a walk in the footsteps of Włocławek’s Jewish community to family and art workshops inspired by biochemistry and nature.
An important part of the event is also to highlight Reichstein’s local roots and to show that the history of world science began, in part, right here in Włocławek. The festival concludes with a concert of klezmer music, bringing the event to a close as a shared cultural and community experience.
