Here, meaning where? Stories of (non)memory • Performance • HOIZ 2026
Unfamiliarity with ancestors, alienation, extreme pessimism, trauma passed on through generations, inherited fear, hiding one’s roots, sense of identity in question, death is omnipresent – these are the main features of the second generation syndrome, described by psychologists and psychiatrists and the main theme of most of the stories whose protagonists are Polish Jews, children and grandchildren of survivors. The performance is based on stories by Mikołaj Grynberg from the volume Rejwach (“I’d Like to Say Sorry, but There’s No One to Say Sorry To”).
Finalist performance of the 28th National Competition for the Staging of a Contemporary Polish Play.
