Music Workshop with Sasha J. Langford

This workshop is appropriate for all professional, semi-professional, or otherwise practicing artists who are interested in the role that music and sound can play in cross-media collaboration.

Taking Jewish mystical practice as an inspiration for the creative process, in this workshop Sasha J. Langford will offer participants reflective and practical tools to explore composing and selecting music for dance, performance, and moving images. Through participatory exercises and group discussion, participants will practice identifying specific sound qualities that can be useful to observe when pairing sound with movement and images, and look at how a Jewish approach to deep listening can help to translate abstract feelings or descriptive words into concrete musical ideas.
